Spring Skincare Essentials

Spring is my favorite Season of the year. Flowers blossom and so does our skin. Just like mine, your skin probably looks greyish, dehydrated and dull from the harsh Winter weather, most of us usually focuses on moisturizing masks and forget about exfoliation and proper cleansing so today I’m going to talk you through getting that glowing skin back just in time for Spring…

The most important thing in every routine, it’s cleansing. Most skincare “problems” we usually have are due to bad cleansing, so make sure you always remove your makeup with a makeup remover and follow with a double cleanse with your favorite cleanser. My skin doesn’t react very well to foaming cleansers so I tend to stick to the more creamier/balmier ones and right now I’m loving this Nº7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Balm (£9). Its indicated for dry skin, but it doesn’t clog the pores and it’s very gentle so it can be used in ay skin type. I love it because it leaves my skin really clean but also soft and supple. I always massage it and remove it with a cloth (twice!). It won’t leave you with an oily residue and your skin will love it.
In Spring seruns are a must, they’re lightweight but heavy duty at the same time. You can nurture and hydrate your skin without it feeling heavy or greasy. I’m wearing this INA Crystals White Gold Restoring Night Serum (£33), it’s packed full of minerals, vitamins and essential oils to get your skin back on track, it’s very light but you can feel it doing it’s magic and you’ll notice a serious change in your skin in just a few days.
I also love serums in the morning and the Nourish Balance Nutritious Peptide Serum (£20) is a recent discovery. This 80% organic serum is perfect for my sensitive combination skin, it delivers just the right amount of hydration combined with a pore refining function as well. Exactly what I needed. If you can’t make it, fake it! Meaning even if you take very good care of your skin and “she” doesn’t deliver you that amazing glow we all love, fake it with the Nourish Golden Glow Illuminating Face Shimmer (£20), just mix a pea size amount with your moisturizer and you’ll look and feel new and refreshed! This gives just the right amount of glow. Don’t be intimidated by its name, I know Illuminating Shimmer is not exactly what you are looking for, but this has a very sheer finish and it’s not shimmery at all.

Like I said before the most important steps in our routine is cleansing/exfoliating. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and debris from the skin to reveal a smooth radiant complexion. I was addicted to chemical exfoliants until I found the Espa Skin Refining Polisher (£25,50). It is a bit harsh but when used with caution it will leave you with baby skin without having to wait 15 minutes for a mask to work it’s magic. I’ve used it every day for a week to remove that “Winter skin” out of my face, I tell you my skin never looked this good.

Last but not least in my Spring essentials is sunscreen, yes ladies, sunscreen. Its the best anti-aging product of all the products you can ever use. I never leave the house without mine and the best sunscreen I’ve ever tried is the Skinceuticals UV Physical Defense SPF30 (£33). Is it oil-free, it doesn’t leave a white residue and because it’s a physical sunscreen it’s suitable for even the most sensitive of the skins.
